1. There was more racism in the north at this point. Still new immigrants coming to the country. America was becoming known as a country that is trying to expand democracy. America was now being seen as a more powerful country that gets involved with other countries much more often now.

1. New war strategies and technology changed the way war works completely. New inventions such as tanks, gas bombs, airplanes, and better guns changed war completely. Mass communication was now used. The world was becoming more connected. Lots of big factories were made in The United States for mass production of war supplies. Lots of women got jobs to help support the war.

1. Anti German hysteria was an issue. German people living in America changed their last names to avoid being discriminated. There was a huge movement of people going to Europe to fight in the war, then all of the people went back to their homeland. This caused a huge spread in diseases. The main disease being the Spanish Flu. African Americans moved north in America, but were greatly discriminated against.

1. During this time, government power was growing greatly. The Food Administration Act where people had to certain food on certain days to help support the army, shows how the power of the government was growing and how people were supporting the war effort. Some other acts that showed how the government power was growing are the Espionage, Committee on Public Information, and Selective Service acts.
